THECOMMITMENT.COM is a non-profit organization and information center for online web therapy that provides help to people with addictive compulsive behavioral problems and also calls attention to the destructiveness of such behavior to the individual as well as their family and friends. This program was founded by the producer of The Atlantic City Pop Festival, Sheldon A. Kaplan, who saw the need for a new approach to combat harmful addictions.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our goal is to provide a simple inexpensive method to assist anyone who wants HELP and realizes they have an overwhelming destructive impulsive addictive problem with Smoking, Gambling, Drinking, Abusing Drugs or any other habit that is causing problems in their lives.

PROJECT VISION

The Commitment's ongoing project of help on this website is called TeleHelp TherapyTM. The Commitment's research and development department hosts video chat rooms that anyone can use (by appointment) to speak about their problems with addiction to alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, infidelity, suicidal tendencies or any other overwhelming feelings that they are bothered by. We have been investigating videoconferencing providers who can help us deploy the new technology we will need to host these group session. Our video chat rooms include a moderator and a physician so that discussions don't drift too far from the initial problem that the group chooses to speak about. They keep everyone focused on the ultimate solution which is of course to make The Commitment to quit their addiction/habit right then and there.
